Werner Herzog
Werner Herzog was born in Munich in 1942. He made his first film in 1961 at the age of 19. Since then he has produced, written, and directed more than forty films, published more than a dozen books of prose, and directed as many operas. Herzog won the best director award for Fitzcarraldo at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. Grizzly Man won the Alfred P Sloan Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Herzog was honoured at the San Francisco International Film Festival, receiving the 2006 Film Society Directing Award.
