Chris Waitt moved into making films after a failed career as a rock musician. He tried his hand at a number of movie genres and made short films and music videos, often casting himself in his own work. He then embarked on a number of documentary projects, including a documentary for MTV called Heavy Metal Jr., which was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA and selected for the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.
