An enthralling journey into the origins of cinema.

Film-maker David Nicholas Wilkinson heads off on a mission to reveal the story of Louis Aimé Augustine Le Prince's pioneering work. In October 1888, Le Prince produced the world's first films in Leeds, England, shot on equipment patented in both America and the UK. Once he perfected his projection machine, he arranged to demonstrate his discovery in America. But on 16 September 1890, just weeks before he was due to sail to New York, he stepped onto the Dijon-Paris train and was never seen again. no body was ever found, so legally no one could fight the Le Prince claim to his invention.
