Understanding Cinema

  • 90 mins

Extraordinary short films created by young filmmakers through our Understanding Cinema film education programme Inspired by the respected Cinémathèque Française programme Le Cinéma, cent ans de jeunesse, Understanding Cinema teaches young people to examine one aspect of cinema; this year, the 'long take'. Filmmakers learn about uses of the long take throughout cinema history, from the Lumière brothers to 'that scene' in Goodfellas, to True Detective and more. The young filmmakers will be present to discuss their final films, which demonstrate the skill and maturity this approach instils. More info at understandingcinema.wordpress.com/ [U]
