East and West collide in this moody, experimental film noir.

A combination of film noir, personal essay, and portrait of a city. The city is Macao, a former Portuguese colony that still bears traces of its past as a gambling haven and a magnet for Westerners’ reveries about the exotic East. The narrator returns to the city in response to a plea for help from an old friend who may be involved in a murder. A magnificent, mooddrenched poem on time, city life and memory.
