Sarah Polley (b. 1979, Canada) is an actress and filmmaker who starred in the Atom Egoyan movies Exotica (1994) and The Sweet Hereafter (1997), among several other films. She made two short films – The Best Day of My Life and Don’t Think Twice – in 1999 and attended the Canadian Film Centre’s directing programme in 2001. Her feature-directing debut was Away From Her (2006), based on an Alice Munro short story, which saw her nominated for a Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award. Her second film was Take This Waltz (2011). Stories We Tell is her first documentary.
