Dispelling the famous adage that widescreen was only good for snakes and funerals, generations of filmmakers have embraced the format – from Otto Preminger and Akira Kurosawa to Bruno Dumont and Wes Anderson. This fully illustrated lecture by Dr Pasquale Iannone (University of Edinburgh) will examine the development of widescreen aesthetics through a wide variety of examples from across the globe.
