In celebration of EIFF's 65th anniversary, the Edinburgh Film Guild inaugurates this annual series of lectures on the history of cinema in Scotland with a fully illustrated account of the beginning of EIFF in Edinburgh's First International Festival of Documentary Films—the first international film festival in Britain and first anywhere devoted entirely to documentary. The lecture will be followed by a complete screening of Humphrey Jennings' rarely seen The Cumberland Story, the first film shown at that 1947 festival. Presenter: Marc David Jacobs.
