Tomboy

Ever wondered what it would be like to switch sex? Laure, 10, does.
When Laure arrives at her new neighbourhood in the outskirts of Paris, she ventures outside to meet the local kids. Mistaken for a boy by potential new best friend Lisa, she decides, on the spur of the moment, to give her name as Mikaël. Second-time director Celine Sciamma’s striking debut, Water Lilies, marked her as a name to watch, and she doesn’t disappoint with another incisive, insightful, though more intimate drama of burgeoning female sexuality.
