1937. A bedraggled circus clown fights his way through hordes of vicious rebels with a machete. 1973. His son, also a circus clown, finds himself embroiled in an emotional tug of war that gradually spirals into madness.

Director Álex de la Iglesia’s dark, dazzling parable once more proves his unique genius; his Silver Lion award for Best Director in Venice last year was well deserved. Horrific, hilarious: this is one of the most compelling and memorable cult films of the year.
