The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye
A tender tale of how love can transform – literally!
Experimental filmmaker Marie Losier’s debut feature documentary is both a love story and a deeply personal profile of the artist and musician Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV) and his partner/artistic collaborator Lady Jaye. Weaving together archival footage, interviews, performances and personal confession, Losier’s characteristically quirky portrait draws out the fine line between life and art in the couple’s ‘pandrogyny’ project – physically transforming their bodies to resemble each other.
Please note that there is a short screening preceding the feature.
Screening with: The Garden (Ann Steuernagel/ USA/ 2010/ 10mins)
