Tender Son: The Frankenstein Project (Szelid Teremtés - A Frankenstein Project)
Rudolf Frecska, Kitty Csíkos, Kornel Mundruczo, Lili Monori, Miklos Szekely
There are other ways to create a monster.
No stranger to EIFF, Kornél Mundruczó (Pleasant Days EIFF 2002, Johanna EIFF 2005) returns with his ‘reimagining’ of (the second half of) Mary Shelley’s famous novel. His ‘monster’, though, is a boy: an orphan, recently arrived in a wintry, contemporary Budapest in search of those who ‘created’ him. Rejected anew, and at large in a world of emotions he cannot begin to comprehend, he lashes out. This is a bold, visually striking (both in its cinematography and locations), dark and chilling film.
