Mourning For Anna (Trois temps aprés la mort d’Anna)
Guylaine Tremblay, François Papineau
A meditative and hypnotic meditation on grief and loss.
Catherine Martin's first new feature since the gorgeous "Dans Les Villes" (EIFF 2007) is a beautifully crafted, thoroughly serious study of parental grief. Martin's elegiac long-take style and relentlessly elegant mise-en-scene develop a striking backdrop for the compelling central performance. The interplay between powerful performances given full room to breathe, and masterful technique unfolding under tightly focussed direction, make this a thoroughly mesmerising piece of cinema.
Please note that there is a short screening preceding the feature.
Screening with: My Mother's Coat (Marie-Margaux Tsakiri-Scanatovits /UK /2010/ 6min)
