BAFTA presents: Meet the Agents
Ever wondered what it takes to get agency representation as a screenwriter?
TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT ARE FREE AND NEED TO BE BOOKED IN PERSON AT FILMHOUSE BOX OFFICE OR BY TELEPHONE ON 0131 623 8030
Well then join BAFTA when we meet the agents at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Getting industry recognition can often feel like an insurmountable task but with this event we aim to give emerging writing talent a clearer picture of what it takes to progress their career to the next level.
Our panel of literary agents including Charlotte Knight from the Rod Hall Agency and Katharine Vile from United Agents both will be shedding light on the finer points of getting agency representation. From the acceptable etiquette when approaching an agency and what you should expect from an agent if they end up representing you. Producer and Company Director of Element Pictures Ed Guiney will also be joining the panel and discussing how a writer and their agent work with producers and development executives to bring work from the page and onto the screen. Ed has recently produced The Guard which will open the EIFF on Wednesday 15 June.
Angeli Macfarlane Head of Development at Borough Picture Company will be chairing this panel discussion. Angeli has also been responsible for heading up new writing programmes at both Pathé UK and Film 4.
BAFTA runs events throughout the year all around the country, giving everyone access to industry talent: bafta.org
