A Douglas Sirk classic of love crossing the divide.

After the recent death of her rich, well- respected husband, Cary Scott crushingly falls for her earthy, young gardener. They fall deeper in love and decide to marry despite the disdain of Cary’s high society. Amidst increasing gossip and protests against their union from the community and Cary’s teenage children, they struggle to remain true to themselves and one another until ultimately forced to choose between their relationship and her children. This screening is to honour the work of EIFF 2011's artistic advisors.
