Damián Bichir, Jose Julian, Chelsea Rendon / Fiction / English

The road forks for both Mexican illegal immigrant father, and his troubled son, in this affecting tale of fortitude and temptation.

Doing it tough in East LA, Carlos (Mexican star Demian Bichir) tends the gardens of wealthy cross town Los Angelinos. He worries for the future of his wayward son Luis, who is flirting with gang culture, often missing school. And there’s the ever present threat of being discovered by Immigration Officials. Weitz himself has Mexican ancestry, and this film is based on what he describes as the best script he’s read since he started making films two decades ago.
