Lions Love (...and Lies)
?Peter Bogdanovich, Richard Bright, Carlos Clarens, Shirley Clarke, Eddie Constantine
A unique focus on 1960s Hollywood.
Starring Warhol protégé Viva, along with James Rado and Gerome Ragni, who created the Broadway musical Hair, Agnès Varda’s Lions Love (...and Lies) is a genuine cinematic curiosity. The reason for its inclusion in this retrospective? It also stars Shirley Clarke … as Shirley Clarke. As she dons her sunglasses and steps before the camera, playing her own stylish reflection, Clarke proves a fascinating addition to Varda’s improvised snapshot of late 60s Hollywood. Watch for appearances by Peter Bogdanovich and Jim Morrison, among many others.
