Idiots and Angels
You’ll believe a man can fly. And pull his own wings off.
Recalling Jacques Tati’s mistrust of logic and Camus’ existential misanthropy, only the unfettered genius of animator Bill Plympton could literally draw a love story from such influences. Dispelling dialogue in favour of surrealist associations, you’ll see the besuited ‘hero’ set light to traffic jams, ride barmaids like horses, and still find time to grow wings, die and fall in love – all while hatching a butterfly in his hair. Hallelujah!
