3 Women
Niki Karimi, Pegah Ahangarani, Maryam Boubani, Reza , Kianian, Babak Hamidian, Atyla Pessiani
A warm ensemble portrait of contemporary Tehran.
Manijeh Hekmat’s second feature – following Women’s Prison (2002) – combines the cream of Iran’s acting talent with a gripping narrative that maps the lives of three generations of Tehran women. Niki Karimi – a famed screen siren as well as a rising director in her own right – takes centre stage as Minoo, a harrassed single mother facing battles in her job as a carpet conservator while looking after her senile mother and rebellious student daughter.
