Heike Makatsch, Anna Marie Mühe, Sebastian Urzendowsky, Ludwig Trepte, Marc Hosemann / Fiction / German
There were never such devoted sisters...
From the outside, Anna (Heike Makatsch) has a fabulous life: shiny job in the music industry, handsome boyfriend, chic wardrobe. When she goes on holiday with her younger and more timid sister Marie (Anna Maria Mühe), the power balance between the two seems clear enough. But Anna's hold is not as firm as it seems. Her job has been reduced to production of ringtones, and her boyfriend clearly has other interests - and with another secret worry threatening to overwhelm her, her sister's burgeoning self-assurance proves to be too much of a threat. Co-written by German superstar Makatsch, this is an intense, stylish and compelling study of sexual competition and fast-lane burnout. HM
