Finding your feet at the Fest
EIFF 2010 will serve up a veritable feast of undiscovered and established screen goodies, with a side of special events and the customary dash of red carpet pizzazz to go.
Throwing yourself into the thick of the Fest is key for anyone looking to get the best out of Edinburgh and a firm favourite on last year's menu was the Filmhouse bar.
Essentially the beating heart of EIFF, there's no better place to rub shoulders with fellow film lovers over a drink, as well as bumping into filmmakers, critics and assorted industry types.
If you fancy the house lights up for a change, EIFF comes to the fore with a series of special events which cover all elements of the film industry, including 'making of' events, panel discussions and, of course, In Person interviews with stars such as Sir Patrick Stewart.
When Hollywood's in town, no Gala is complete without the customary red carpet - and there are already a few confirmed for this year. There will be plenty of spectacle at the Opening Night Gala of The Illusionist and Buzz, Woody and chums will be present and correct for the Special Gala screening of Toy Story 3. Keep an eye on the website for news of more star-studded occasions.
It goes without saying that Edinburgh is a city that never fails to impress and with its sweeping cinematic skyline of Calton Hill, the Scott Monument and Edinburgh Castle, Auld Reekie proves - once again - how to lend itself to celluloid in more ways than one.
