Decision time

The programming team have hardly had a chance to draw breath since the Berlin Film Festival but things are really hotting up at EIFF HQ as we get the 2010 programme finalised.

The programming year so far has been inspirational and we're delighted with the quality of films we've seen at a mixture of film festivals, private screenings and through the submissions process - but now it really is decision time!

There's now only Cannes in May, so the majority of our festival programming is done and the globetrotting team have really come up trumps this year.

Hannah and Diane have hardly sat still since Berlin with both going back and forth to London having meetings and attending distributer screenings.

Submissions have closed now so we're rounding up the great and the good of the submissions process. To date we have had over 3000 submissions so a HUGE thank you to the Submission Coordinator, Alison Arnott and her team for all their hard work in getting the films out to the programmers and most importantly making sure they don't disappear under the programmer's beds...

The viewing process is not yet over so if you have submitted a film to us then please hold tight, you will hear either way by the beginning of May. Square eyes aside, all the submission viewers have been very impressed with what has come through.

We laso have a new member of the team, as our Screenings Coordinator, Eric Tijman started at the beginning of March to assist our Head of Screenings, Madeline Bates (he has previously worked in the Print Traffic dept of Rotterdam Film Fest).

There are lots of film titles buzzing about office 2 so the usual 'loose lips sinks ships' warning has gone out to all staff and made us VERY aware of how close we are getting to June. We would love to share these with you all but i'm afraid our lips are sealed until 1st of June....
