Want to know what our Programming Team have been up to recently? Sure you do! Find out here...
Submissions have gone live and there is not just one but THREE ways to submit so no excuses. Take a look at our submissions page here to see how to enter. To get a cheap deal enter your film by Monday 14th Dec 2009 to take advantage of our Earlybird submission fees but don't forget that Scottish Short Docs, Animations and Experimental films are FREE to submit.
As the submissions begin to arrive the programming team are slowly coming back into the fold with new and exciting leads for films for our 2010 programme and we are all raring to get viewing.
On the festival front Senior Programmer Rob Hope, our man who kens way too much about Asian film, had a fruitful time at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea and came back with a handful of titles to keep an eye on. Diane will shortly be back from the International Thessaloniki Film Festival in Greece, our first time there and we think it will prove a real gem in our festival calender with lots of fresh talent to watch and chat up. Hannah is just back from sitting on Seville's Official Selection Jury headed by Director Nicholas Roeg, so while selecting the best of the feature films on offer in Seville's programme she had the envious opportunity of picking Mr Roeg's brains. Finally, the next festival we're aiming for is IDFA - the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam - aka 'the Cannes of documentary'. Opening on 19th November EIFF will be represented there by a very good friend of the programming team who will hopefully come back with a list of titles and filmmakers we should be keeping an eye on.
Then of course, running in the background of all of this are the cogs of the Retrospective wheel. It is the first part of the programme to really lock-down and is the announcement that kick-starts and motivates us into the new festival year. However, for the moment it is all very hush hush and only Hannah and selected Senior Programmers know what is brewing...
